Global Raw Materials Agenda to Take Center Stage at Steel Summit 2026

The opening session of Steel Summit 2026 will focus on raw materials—the most critical link in the global steel value chain.

Titled “Ferrous Scrap, Billet, and DRI/HBI in the Context of Global Raw Materials,” the session will examine how rapidly evolving trade policies, carbon regulations, and energy costs have transformed raw material markets in recent years. Discussions will cover price formation mechanisms, supply security, shifts in trade flows, and regional competitive dynamics in the scrap, DRI/HBI, and billet segments, all framed by the industry’s current realities.

Moderated by Emrah Uğursal, Managing Director of SteelWise Metal Dış Ticaret A.Ş., the panel will feature experienced speakers from diverse geographies. Ali Der, Operations Director at Universal Rolling Wll; Dr. Mohamed Abdul Malik Elifigh, Chairman of the Board at Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO); Tao Bai, Commercial General Manager at EMR; and Volkan Başol, Operations Director at Amsterdam Scrap Terminal B.V., will assess the latest developments in global raw material markets from an industry perspective. Bringing together varied production and trading experiences, the session will offer a multifaceted view of international markets.

Beyond prices alone, the discussion will also address how sustainable production goals and carbon-focused transformation are reshaping raw material policies. The Raw Materials Panel at Steel Summit 2026 will provide producers, traders, investors, and end-users alike with a clearer picture of the global landscape.
